Preventing Corruption

Pleasant politics cannot arise when corruption is systemic, endemic and mistaken for normality.

What, then, should be the policies of thoughtful citizens, individually and collectively, in relation to the prevention of corrupt practices?

How, for example, do you define corruption if not as an abuse of power?

Perhaps you have answers to the above questions but you are unwilling to provide them with any honesty, or urgency, or accuracy.

You may find it quite surprising that mutually-agreed definitions rarely form the basis of policy discussions.  That is why proper policies are so difficult to produce and present and implement.

How should pleasant journalism inform the public about corrupt practices?

The process of improvement, in any society, begins by knowing the difference between proper policies and improper ones.

The process of improvement continues by maintaining appropriately high personal standards in every situation.

The constitution of every society should be composed and structured to prevent corruption.

How do you attempt to maintain high standards?

How do you attempt to turn a corrupt culture into a non-corrupt one?

How are you currently attempting to revive a democracy and restore it to health?

How can you be sure your approach to policies is appropriately democratic and in no way corrupt?

How, and where, are you involved in the moderation of situations to prevent all forms of inappropriateness?

How have you been attempting to hold a corrupt media to account?

How suitably and consistently do you express leadership?

You will probably be well aware, by now, that political pleasantness is only possible through the well-informed, appropriately civil activities of servants of democracy.

If you regard yourself as a servant of democracy, are you sure you are aware that preventing corruption is not a game?

All appropriate activities associated with the prevention of corruption begin with local appropriateness.

What does that mean in practice in your own situation?

How are you contributing to civility today?

How are, if at all, you contributing to the sustainability of Civility Today and other suitably enlightened daily news services?

Perhaps you prefer to receive news dramatically rather than thematically.

Perhaps that is why you do little, if anything, to thwart the corrupt and corrupting power of News Crap and similar organisations.

What do you know about trickery today and Trickery Today and how do you know it?

How do you tell the difference between corrupt patronage and enlightened patronage?
